The Role: The successful Senior Power Electronics Engineer will support the design, manufacture and supply novel power dense static converters and motors. You will be responsible for delivering robust and cost effective power electronic solutions to a range of niche applications such as submarine power systems, high integrity power supplies, naval propulsion and specialist industrial drive systems. You will become involved in all stages of the engineering lifecycle; from concept through to verification and validation of production systems. As part of a team, you will develop power electronic solutions that successfully meet the overall objectives of the project. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering or a related discipline. In addition, you will have a broad knowledge and understanding of power converter design and application. Ideally, you will have worked on power electronic products operating from 400V ac supplies and switching in excess of 100 Amps. Preferably you will have a detailed understanding of digital control of asynchronous and permanent magnet machines, and an ability to use simulation tools such as MATLAB and Simulink, although training can be provided on simulation tools. You will have a proven track record of product design and verification in a relevant environment.
