Act as the central point of liaison and coordination with all stakeholders throughout the project life cycleDuties include planning and organizing the resource required to execute assigned projectsManage projects through an end to-end project life cycle; monitor overall project progress, resolving risks and issues and initiating corrective action plansDeliver on time, on budget, on quality Project ManagementLarge variation and quantity of projects ranging from low value (£5K) simple projects lasting a few weeks, up to large (£1M+) complex projects lasting several years
Perceive problems well in advance, and consider the broad range of commercial and technical factors in assessing the situation, identifying possible solutions and implementing approved solutions.
Ensure best practice technical, logistical & commercial direction is always in place for project delivery

A leading Engineering business who pride themselves on manufacturing speciality, high precision components for hydraulic and braking systems within the automotive industries, are currently seeking an experienced NPI Engineer to join its busy team.As the NPI Engineer, your duties will be to:
Design the production process to meet the customer specification (capability and TAKT) incorporating SMED and Poke Yoke devices as appropriate.Provide assistance to operations if required and approved by the Advanced Engineering Manager.Set up and lead APQP teams for NPI involving all necessary departments in line with AIAG guidelines.Design using AutoCAD, oversee or outsource the design of tooling and gauging.Create and maintain project / production plans from customer order to production handover.Liaise and visit customers in the UK and abroad to discuss the design for manufacture and other design / specification related issues.Coordinate machine trials and confirm process capability.Process customer and internal ECN’s for new products that have not been passed over to operations.Ensure that toolcards, standard operating procedures, setting instructions, etc are created for new products.Ensure that SAP records are created (routing, bill of materials etc).Create APQP documentation.Research and become familiar with new / innovative production processes / technologies.
To be a successful NPI Engineer you will have the following skills and experience:
Minimum of an engineering HNC / HND or time served engineer with engineering experience ideally in a precision engineering / automotive environment.Fully conversant with AIAG core tools like APQP, FMEA and PPAP methodologies.Fully conversant with AutoCAD.Able to work on own or as part of a team.A sound understanding of metal cutting machinery and manufacturing techniques.Free to travel often at short notice both domestically and internationally.A thorough understanding of the requirements of the automotive industry.

Skills & Experience Required:
Degree educated preferably Electrical or Electronic EngineeringIdeally PMP or similar PM professional qualification or PRINCE2 qualifiedA good communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills.Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic equipment or complex multi-disciplined equipment or systems ideally with knowledge of inspection systemsManaged installations of equipment Projects ideally outside of the UK or mainland US and prepared to travel and remain at Project Sites or location for prolonged periodsDealt with Multi Agency, diverse Sub Contractors and/or complex Government End User/Customer at Site and throughout a ProjectIdeally with additional ‘skill-sets’ i.e. H&S, ILS or QA/QC or Process background
