Supporting the General Manager in pursuing business objectives in terms of output, quality, and cost in a heavy engineering forge environment;Managing the forge unit so that production schedules and customer needs are met whilst continually improving processes to achieve higher performance;Supervising maintenance personnel in the absence of team leaders;Ensuring agreed customer delivery times are achieved;Scheduling resources to meet production requirements;To participate, identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement activities throughout the Forge.
This is a multifaceted role and has varied and challenging components to it including delivery performance, quality, scrap control, safety, people, housekeeping, team work and communication. The successful Shift Manager will have the following skills and experience:
Degree qualified in related engineering or manufacturing discipline;Management experience, including people management ideally from an engineering or aerospace background - though other sectors will be considered;Knowledge of modern manufacturing and logistics techniques, quality systems and continuous improvement;High level of financial awareness including budgeting and forecasting experience;Developed understanding in the use of excel for Budgeting, Forecasting and P&LIT skills Word and PowerPoint;Ability to work a day / back shift pattern.
In return you will receive a salary of £36,000 - £42,000 pa dependent on experience plus 33 days’ holiday and a contribution pension scheme. In return, you will receive a starting salary of £45,000 - £50,000 DOE. Holidays start at 33 days per year (including stats) rising to 35 after 5 years’ service.
