Manufacturing Metallurgy Technician - Livingston -

A worldwide manufacturing and engineering company has a new vacancy for a Manufacturing Metallurgy Technician to join the team of this very successful business in West Lothian. The role has been created due to an increase in orders and a very healthy future pipeline of work. As a result, this role presents as an excellent career opportunity that offers stability, career opportunity and the chance to work with knowledgeable and settled colleagues. A personal career development plan will be in place from the start for the successful person. Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday from 8am to 4.15pm and on a Friday you will have an early finish of 3pm.  You will receive a starting salary of £22,000. There will also be OT opportunity at enhanced rates. Holidays start at 33 days per year (including stats) rising to 35 after 5 years’ service.  The company offer a stakeholder pension scheme and will match up to 10% and a discretionary bonus paid quarterly if business targets are achieved. As a Manufacturing Metallurgy Technician, you will be responsible for: - Booking in micro sections on arrival and issuing of Metallurgy lab numbers and paperwork using excel;Following instruction lists and performing micro preparation utilising vibro pen, Linisher, lab grinding and polishing machines;Acid etching of micro sections using hazardous chemicals;Following instructions provided by supervisor and work hand in hand with other lab technician’s or Metallurgists working in the laboratory.  An ideal candidate for the position of Manufacturing Metallurgy Technician will have :- Experience of working within a manufacturing production environment;Experience of micro preparation utilising vibro pen, Linisher, lab grinding and polishing machines;Proven communication skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with other team members, Metallurgist and Lab Technicians;Materials qualification would be beneficial, with some background on metallography or materials engineering.  In return, the Manufacturing Metallurgy Technician will receive a salary of £22k (pro rata for contract term).  There is the possibility of extension to contract term or a permanent role.  The successful candidate will have an excellent career opportunity to further enhance knowledge and skills in a highly interesting and vibrant sector. The first stage of the application process is to apply online.
